China ready to help find political solution of conflict in Ukraine — Wang Yi

BEIJING, February 16. /TASS/. China is ready to join forces with the international community to promote a political solution for the crisis in Ukraine, Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee said in a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Wednesday.

"China stands ready to cooperate with the international community, including France, to promote a path of political solution [for the conflict], and reach a ceasefire at an early date," Wang Yi was quoted as saying by the Chinese Foreign Ministry in a statement on its website.

He also said China attached importance to France's role as an independent major country in the efforts to resolve the crisis.

Wang Yi said that China had adopted an objective and impartial attitude in the Ukrainian issue and was always committed to promoting peace talks.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry earlier reported that Wang Yi was set to visit France, Italy, Hungary and Russia from February 14-22. He’s also scheduled to participate in the Munich Security Conference that will take place from February 17-19.
