MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Jakarta does not intend to decline Russian President Vladimir Putin's invitation to the upcoming G20 summit in November even in case of pressure from third countries, Jose Tavares, Indonesian envoy to Russia, told TASS in an interview.

The diplomat recalled that Indonesian President Joko Widodo has already sent invitations to all G20 leaders, including Putin. "It shows the position of Indonesia very clearly," the envoy stressed.

He noted that Indonesia believed that Russia was as an important in the G20 as anyone else. "We have no right to disinvite any member of the G20, but we have the prerogative to invite other countries as guests. As you can see, there are various countries participating besides the G20 [members]. There are Pacific countries, there are also countries that are not members of the G20, <…> including Ukraine. So, that’s the position Indonesia has taken," Tavares summarized.

On October 14, Putin said that the issue of his trip to the G20 summit in Indonesia has not yet been finalized, but the Russian side will participate in this forum. It is to be held on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15-16.
