NEW YORK, March 11. /TASS/. Russia remains open for peace talks on Ukraine and prefers to achieve its goals through diplomacy, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Russia is open for peace efforts, for peace settlement around Ukraine, and we actually prefer to reach our goals through peaceful and diplomatic means," Bloomberg quoted him as saying.
"If today and tomorrow shows that Ukraine is ready for negotiations, it will be a different story," Peskov added.
US President Donald Trump said earlier that he had received a letter from Vladimir Zelensky about Kiev’s readiness for talks on a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict. The letter was sent after a verbal spat out between Trump and Zelensky, with the US leader eventually saying that Zelensky was disrespectful and not ready for peace.
On March 4, 2022, Zelensky enacted a decision by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, which ruled out talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
