Trump plans to call Putin this week to discuss Ukraine

Asked whether he planned to make the call later this week, he answered in the affirmative

WASHINGTON, March 12. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said he plans to call Russian President Vladimir Putin in the next couple of days to discuss the situation around Ukraine.

"I’ll talk to Vladimir Putin," he told reporters at the White House in comments on US-Ukrainian talks in Saudi Arabia. "It takes two to tango."

Asked whether he planned to make the call later this week, he answered in the affirmative.

The US president expressed hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin will accept the proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine that was discussed at the talks in Saudi Arabia.

"Hopefully he'll also agree. And I really think that would be 75% of the way. The rest is getting it documented and, you know, negotiating land positions," Trump said without elaborating.
