KIEV, January 8. /TASS/. Ukraine International Airlines has suspended flights to Tehran indefinitely due to the crash of its aircraft, the company’s press service announced on Wednesday.
"Starting from today, Ukraine International Airlines has decided to suspend its flights to Tehran for an indefinite period," the press service said on Facebook. The company noted it is doing everything possible to find out the causes of the crash.
"The flight was carried out on a Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft with a registration number UR-PSR. The aircraft was manufactured in 2016, received by the airline directly from the factory. The aircraft last underwent scheduled maintenance on January 6, 2020," the airline said, adding that the aircraft on Wednesday "disappeared from radars after a few minutes after departure from Tehran's international airport."
The company assured that there will be a thorough investigation of the incident "involving the aviation authorities of Ukraine, Iran, representatives of Boeing, the airline, as well as the National Bureau of Air Accidents Investigation of Ukraine".
Earlier on Wednesday, Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737 crashed after taking off in Tehran. According to preliminary data, 168 passengers and 9 crew members died in the incident.
