X social network to be unblocked as soon as it complies with Russian legislation — Kremlin

Earlier, in a conversation with TASS, Head of the Safe Internet League Yekaterina Mizulina mentioned grounds to unblock the network because its operations "had changed a lot"

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. Any hurdles to the unblocking of the X social network (formerly known as Twitter) may disappear as soon as it complies with the requirements of Russian legislation, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a news briefing.

"The question is whether X has fulfilled all the requirements of Russian legislation. As soon as these requirements are met, then, certainly, there will be no obstacles," the Kremlin official said, commenting on a statement by Head of the Safe Internet League Yekaterina Mizulina.

Peskov emphasized that the social network had been renamed. "So there is no way to bring back Twitter," he remarked.

Earlier, in a conversation with TASS, Mizulina mentioned grounds to unblock the network because its operations "had changed a lot." That said, Russia’s mass media and telecommunications watchdog (Roskomnadzor) has not yet identified any such grounds.
