MELITOPOL, April 16. /TASS/. A lawmaker from the local legislature in the Zaporozhye Region is alive after someone tried to kill him, the local administration head told TASS.

"The lawmaker is alive. No details about his condition are available at this point," Yulia Gubanova, the head of the Akimovsky district administration, said.

Vladimir Rogov, the co-chair of the Russian Public Chamber’s coordination council for the new region’s integration, wrote on his Telegram channel earlier in the day that an assassination attempt was carried out against member of the Akimovsky district council, or legislature, Anton Yakimenko. An explosive device was placed on the gate of his house’s courtyard at eye level. The device went off when the man opened the gate to park his car.
