Hainan's Sanya to apply new productive forces to selective breeding projects

According to Lin Hai, executive deputy director of the Administration Bureau of Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, the authorities have intensified the process of mobilizing all necessary resources and attracting sought-after market players to achieve set goals

HAIKOU /China/, September 19. /TASS/. High-tech and knowledge-intensive enterprises of Sanya city, located on the southern coast of Hainan Island, plan to step up measures to utilize new productive forces in the implementation of selective breeding and deep-sea projects, China News Service reported.

Sanya authorities will take advantage of the "unique advantages" of these industries, which serve as a strategic foundation for successful regional development. Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, one of the 13 key innovation zones in South China's Hainan Province, will play an important role in accomplishing these tasks.

According to Huang Xingwu, head of the Sanya Committee for Comprehensive Deepening Reforms, the government will focus on addressing intensive growth issues by building on existing scientific capabilities in tropical crop production and marine research. According to Lin Hai, executive deputy director of the Administration Bureau of Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, the authorities are mobilizing all necessary resources and attracting sought-after market players at an accelerated pace to achieve the set goals. As a result, a multi-level system has been formed to combine the efforts of laboratories and universities, and the results of their activities are materializing in the production sphere.

Lin Hai noted that 26 breeding and deep-sea programs have already been launched in the science city, involving the potential of more than 20 research institutes, as well as branches of 17 specialized universities. More than 30 provincial and three national scientific platforms, including the National Salt-Tolerant Rice Technology Innovation Center, have contributed to the implementation of these projects. According to official estimates, about 2.8 thousand highly qualified specialists, including 6 academicians, have been recruited for the successful completion of the set tasks.

New productive forces are a combination of technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and advanced developments achieved at previous stages. They make it possible to save natural and human resources and ensure intensive development of the extractive, energy, manufacturing, agricultural and transport industries. The Communist Party of China prioritizes the strengthening of relevant mechanisms to ensure the transition from an extensive economic model to high-quality growth.

Sanya is one of China's key R&D centers in space, deep-sea research and breeding. Innovative projects in this dynamic city, known in the PRC as a first-class resort, are attracting the attention of an increasing number of international investors.
