Science funding to be increased to 2% of GDP — Putin

"It is critical to channel all additional resources to support exactly promising, breakthrough areas," the Russian leader noted

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Financing of scientific research should be increased in coordination between government authorities and business, with the support share to be 2% of GDP, President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum.

"We should scale up science funding to 2% [of GDP] together with business," the head of state said. "It is critical to channel all additional resources to support exactly promising, breakthrough areas," Putin noted.

"It would be short-sighted and wrong to be content with mere substitution of technological processes that are already mastered somewhere," Putin added.
