UK diesel prices breach two pounds per liter mark for the first time

The RAC motoring group warned that record-breaking diesel prices will bring financial pain not only for drivers at the pumps but for all consumers

LONDON, September 30. /TASS/. The average price of diesel in the UK has surpassed the psychological milestone of 2 pounds ($2.66) per liter for the first time in history, according to calculations by Sky News.

Earlier this week, diesel prices had already broken the June 2022 record, reaching 1.9918 pounds per liter. This means filling up a typical family car with a 55-liter tank now costs 110 pounds ($146) – an increase of 31 pounds ($41) compared to the period before the war in Iran began.

The RAC motoring group warned that record-breaking diesel prices will bring financial pain not only for drivers at the pumps but for all consumers, as the delivery of goods and services relies heavily on diesel-powered trucks and vans.

Petrol prices have also hit a new high since late February. On September 28, petrol was priced at 1.74 pounds ($2.31) per liter, making the average cost of a full tank 95.8 pounds ($127). This is 22.8 pounds ($30.3) higher than before the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran.
