MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. Roscosmos, Russia’s space agency, is not participating in a space race and is focused on fulfilling its program, Roscosmos Chief Dmitry Rogozin said on Thursday.
"We are not participating in any race. We have our own program laid out by the Russian Academy of Sciences. Roscosmos translates their plans into real hardware. Now is not time for chasing butterflies, since we need to focus on the country’s defense and security," Rogozin emphasized.
Russia will send humans into space to solve only those tasks that automatic stations fail to cope with, he elaborated, adding that Washington intended to send a human to the Moon to solve some domestic dilemmas.
"In US estimates, a flight to the Moon will cost $3.4 billion so that someone can trot across it. They tell us: ‘Will you participate in this? No, we won’t. We don’t need this at all," the Roscosmos chief said.
