Russian forces setting up fire pocket for Ukrainian troops in Kharkov area — expert

Andrey Marochko noted that if the Ukrainian command "does not react to these risks in time," up to a battalion of Ukrainian soldiers will be pushed against the Lozovaya River, cut off from any routes of retreat

LUGANSK, December 18. /TASS/. Russian units have improved the strategic situation near the village of Lozovaya in the Kharkov Region over the past 24 hours by partially forming a fire pocket for Ukrainian troops in that section of the frontline, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS.

"In the past 24 hours, our forces have improved their strategic positions north and south of the village of Lozovaya. Advancing in this section, Russian units can potentially encircle a Ukrainian formation stationed in the village. At this time, a fire pocket has been partially formed while fire control over the enemy’s territory has been increasing daily," he said.

The expert noted that if the Ukrainian command "does not react to these risks in time," up to a battalion of Ukrainian soldiers will be pushed against the Lozovaya River, cut off from any routes of retreat.
