MOSCOW, December 17. /TASS/. Russian troops liberated the settlement of Annovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Tuesday.
"Battlegroup South units liberated the settlement of Annovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic as a result of decisive actions," the ministry said in a statement.

Russia’s Battlegroup North inflicted roughly 70 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed two enemy armored vehicles in its area of responsibility in the Kharkov Region over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup North units operating in the Kharkov direction inflicted losses on the armed formations of a mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army, a territorial defense brigade and a border guard detachment of Ukraine’s Border Guard Service near the settlements of Aleksandrovka, Sinelnikovo and Volchansk in the Kharkov Region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 70 personnel, two armored combat vehicles, five motor vehicles and a 122mm D-30 howitzer, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup West inflicted more than 520 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed five enemy artillery guns in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup West units improved their tactical position and inflicted damage on manpower and equipment of three mechanized brigades, a jaeger brigade, an airmobile brigade and an airborne brigade of the Ukrainian army and a territorial defense brigade near the settlements of Dvurechnaya, Kupyansk, Zagryzovo and Lozovaya in the Kharkov Region, Novoyegorovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Torskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic and in the area of the Serebryanka forestry. They repelled a counterattack by an enemy assault group," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost more than 520 personnel, a tank, three pickup trucks, a 122mm Gvozdika motorized artillery system and four 122mm D-30 howitzers in that frontline area over the past 24 hours, it specified.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army, it said.

Russia’s Battlegroup South inflicted roughly 330 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed three enemy artillery guns in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
During the last 24-hour period, Battlegroup South units "inflicted casualties on formations of three mechanized brigades, a motorized infantry brigade, an airmobile brigade and an assault brigade of the Ukrainian army and two territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Seversk, Zvanovka, Stupochki, Uspenovka, Ostrovskoye and Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 330 personnel, two armored personnel carriers, in particular, a Stryker and an M113 of US manufacture, four Kozak armored combat vehicles, three motor vehicles, a 122mm D-30 howitzer, a US-made 105mm M119 artillery gun and a British-made 105mm L119 howitzer, it specified.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed an electronic warfare station and an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army, it said.

Russia’s Battlegroup Center inflicted roughly 425 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed six enemy artillery guns in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup Center units gained better ground and inflicted losses on manpower and equipment of a heavy mechanized brigade, five mechanized brigades, a motorized infantry brigade, an infantry brigade, a jaeger brigade, an assault brigade and an assault battalion of the Ukrainian army, a marine infantry brigade and a territorial defense brigade near the settlements of Dzerzhinsk, Shcherbinovka, Novoolenovka, Krasnoarmeisk, Shevchenko, Novopustynka, Novoukrainka and Krasnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic. They repulsed 11 counterattacks by Ukrainian armed formations," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 425 personnel, an infantry fighting vehicle, two armored personnel carriers, including a US-made M113 armored vehicle, a US-manufactured HMMWV armored combat vehicle, a US-made 155mm M777 howitzer, five motor vehicles, two 152mm Msta-B howitzers, two 152mm D-20 howitzers and a 122mm D-30 howitzer, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup East repelled four Ukrainian counterattacks and inflicted roughly 205 casualties on enemy troops in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup East units kept moving deep into the enemy’s defenses and inflicted casualties on formations of two mechanized brigades and an assault battalion of the Ukrainian army and two territorial defense brigades in areas near the settlements of Temirovka, Velikaya Novosyolka, Gulyaipole and Novy Komar in the Donetsk People’s Republic. They repelled four enemy counterattacks," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 205 personnel, a tank, five motor vehicles, a 152mm Akatsiya motorized artillery system, a 122mm D-30 howitzer, a US-made HMMWV armored combat vehicle, two US-manufactured MaxxPro armored fighting vehicles and a US-made 155mm Paladin self-propelled artillery system, it specified.

Russia’s Battlegroup Dnepr inflicted roughly 75 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed an enemy ammunition depot in its area of responsibility over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup Dnepr units inflicted damage on manpower and equipment of a mechanized brigade, an infantry brigade and a mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian army and two territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Novoandreyevka and Lobkovoye in the Zaporozhye Region, Sadovoye and Ingulets in the Kherson Region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in that frontline area over the past 24 hours amounted to 75 personnel and five motor vehicles, it specified.
In addition, Russian forces destroyed an electronic warfare station and an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army, it said.
Russian troops pound Ukrainian army, equipment in 142 areas over past day
Russian troops inflicted damage on Ukrainian manpower and military hardware in 142 areas over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Operational/tactical aircraft, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces struck amassed enemy manpower and military equipment in 142 locations," the ministry said.
Russian air defenses destroy 49 Ukrainian UAVs, HIMARS rocket over past day
Russian air defense forces shot down 49 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and a US-made rocket over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Air defense capabilities shot down a rocket of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system and 49 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.
Overall, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 650 Ukrainian warplanes, 283 helicopters, 37,867 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 surface-to-air missile systems, 19,827 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,501 multiple rocket launchers, 19,738 field artillery guns and mortars and 29,286 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, the ministry reported.
