MOSCOW, April 17. /TASS/. Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport has finished a pilot project for introducing facial recognition technology as a security measure. The program’s accuracy rate of identification was 90%, the airport press service reported.
The system has been installed at one of the airport’s entrances. A photo database of airport employees was compiled for testing purposes. The system analyzed real passengers’ data using video cameras and identified faces from the database. It also performed analyses of archive video footage.
During the pilot project, the airport used technologies belonging to the Hi-Tec company group. During testing, Anyvision technology was used, which is the basis for the Russian facial recognition system "Videotec".
According to expectations, the implemented technology will be used by the airport security and law enforcement agencies.
