Situation in Middle East harms security in Eurasia — Russian Security Council

It disrupts the established global logistics chains, Alexey Shevtsov said

MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. The situation in the Middle East is adversely affecting security across the Eurasian region and disrupting existing global logistics chains, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Alexey Shevtsov said at a conference of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on security issues in Central Asia and Afghanistan.

"The situation in the Middle East not only has a negative impact on the security environment across the entire Eurasian region, but also disrupts established global logistics chains and undermines food and energy security," he said.

"It is precisely thanks to close cooperation ties that Russia and the countries of Central Asia are withstanding the current resource crisis without significant economic losses," the Russian Security Council deputy secretary stressed.
