No word from Armenia it may sever ties with Moscow — deputy PM

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently criticized relations with Moscow and suspended Yerevan's participation in the joint defense alliance - the CSTO

MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. Yerevan has not yet made any official statements about its intention to sever ties with Moscow, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told the daily Izvestia in an interview.

"We haven’t heard that they [Armenia] are planning to sever ties [with Russia]. There have been no official statements to this effect," he said.

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently criticized relations with Moscow. In particular, he suspended Yerevan's participation in the joint defense alliance - the CSTO - and also removed the Russian border guards from the capital's airport, where they had been present since 1992.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Armenia-EU-US meeting scheduled for April 5 was a cause of concern for Moscow, as Washington and Brussels openly declared its anti-Russian orientation.
