MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Russia’s telecom watchdog, or Roskomnadzor, has removed or blocked more than 12,800 materials aimed at disrupting the Russian presidential election, the agency's press service said.

"We removed and blocked more than 12,800 materials aimed at disrupting the election, containing calls for extremist and terrorist activities, inaccurate information related to the election and the special military operation, insulting the president, as well as fake websites and accounts of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and election commissions of the Russian constituent entities," the statement said.

The agency's specialists also repelled 497 DDoS attacks that hit the online election infrastructure all at once. The power of the largest attack amounted to 87 Gb/s, lasting a total of 40 hours and 12 minutes. The attacks came mainly from Germany, England, the US, Finland and Lithuania.

Russia held its first-ever three-day presidential election from March 15-17. Remote electronic voting, also a first, was available to voters in 29, or about one-third, of the country’s 89 regions.
