Russia, China should jointly promote multipolar world — top Chinese diplomat

Wang also said that "the Chinese and Soviet peoples fought bravely, suffered heavy losses, and defeated militaristic Japan and Nazi Germany during World War II"

MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. Russia and China should work together to promote a multipolar world and the democratization of international relations, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said before a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"80 years after the end of World War II, we must work together to promote multipolarity in the world and democratization of international relations," he said.

Wang also said that "the Chinese and Soviet peoples fought bravely, suffered heavy losses, and defeated militaristic Japan and Nazi Germany during World War II." He noted that the countries "must jointly defend the legacy of the Second World War, as well as [the principles of] the post-war world order." The Soviet Union and China have made a serious contribution to "the cause of peace [for all] mankind," the diplomat added.

Wang, who heads the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, is in Moscow on an official visit from March 31 to April 2. On April 1, he met with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to sign a plan for consultations between the diplomatic missions for 2025.
