MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will definitely take advantage of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s invitation to visit his country, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing.
"A standing invitation is on the agenda and Putin will definitely take advantage of it at a convenient time and based on a mutual agreement between the parties, of course," Peskov pointed out.
Kim Jong Un invited the Russian president to visit North Korea during his trip to Russia in September 2023. Peskov said back then that Putin had accepted the invitation with gratitude. Top Russian diplomat Sergey Lavrov made a visit to Pyongyang in October.
North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui is currently on a visit to Russia, holding talks with Lavrov. Peskov pointed out that the two top diplomats will brief Putin on the outcome of their negotiations in the afternoon.
