MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. Russia considers the new regions to be its integral part, with all the consequences for those who might encroach on them, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told the media.
When asked whether Moscow was not concerned about the borders within which Ukraine might join the EU (should such a decision is ever made) and whether there will be conflicts with the new regions of Russia, he replied: "It’s about Russian regions, which are an integral part of Russia. With all the ensuing consequences for those who might lay claim to them," he said.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, while commenting on the negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU, suggested giving thought to how to admit that country to the association. He recalled that neither the size of Ukraine's territory nor its population could be accurately determined at the moment, which made the consequences of such a state joining the EU unpredictable.
