MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Tectonic processes underway in the world and the Ukrainian conflict originated as early as at the time of collapse of the USSR, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said in an article for the Izvestiya newspaper.
The 100th anniversary of USSR creation last year was "amid tectonic processes originated as early as three decades ago and provoking strong, devastating shocks in 2022," Medvedev noted. "Basics of the world order of the post-Soviet period regarded until recently as more or less habitual, though not the best one, collapsed with the metal rumble. International ‘safety cushions’ did not work and cracks are now going across and deeper into the entire system of peace support" on the planet, he said.
"The start for the tragedy underway in Ukraine now was at the turn of the last century. Specifically, at the time when the Soviet Union collapsed," Medvedev added.
