It is noted that TPPs No. 5 and 6 were damaged in Kiev

KIEV, October 10. /TASS/. Ukraine may see starting rolling power cuts during peak hours because of switchgear damage at the Burshtynskaya thermal power plant (TPP), a source close to the Ukraine’s energy ministry told Strana news outlet on Monday.

"The situation is very serious; a 1 GW capacity shortage may occur and there may be rolling cuts in the evening during peak hours," the source said, cited by the news outlet. According to the source, TPPs No. 5 and 6 were damaged in Kiev.

The Burshtynskaya TPP was separated from the united energy system of Ukraine since July 1, 2002 and is working in parallel to the united European energy system. Its capacity is partly used for the domestic market of Ukraine.
