Suspect in terror attack on war blogger cooperates with investigators

Сurrently establishing all the probable accomplices of the accused and working through various versions and motives of the committed terror attack

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Darya Trepova, accused of committing a terrorist attack at a St. Petersburg cafe against military correspondent Maxim Fomin, also known under the pen name Vladlen Tatarsky, is cooperating with investigators, a source in law enforcement told TASS on Saturday.

"[Trepova] is cooperating with investigators, all her statements are being carefully checked by the investigative and operating groups which include dozens of members of law enforcement. The investigation is also currently establishing all the probable accomplices of the accused and working through various versions and motives of the committed terror attack," the source said.

According to the investigation, on April 2, 2023, Trepova, following instructions from her handlers in Ukraine, brought a statuette bomb to a cafe in downtown St. Petersburg and presented it to Tatarsky. As a result of the explosion that followed seconds later, he died. More than 30 people who were in the cafe at the moment sustained injuries. Trepova is accused of committing a crime under Article 205 and Article 222.1 of Russia’s Criminal Code (a terrorist attack committed by an organized group, resulting in the intentional death of a person and illegal carrying of explosive devices committed by an organized group).
