MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. The Norwegian Viking Sky cruise ship, which experienced loss of engine power off the country’s More og Romsdal county, has arrived at the port of Molde, NRK television reported live.
The ferry was towed to the port by a tugboat and two other vessels.
The evacuation of the passengers had been suspended earlier. According to NTB news agency, 463 people out of almost 1,400 had been evacuated. The others arrived on board the ferry. The passengers will leave the ship and will be taken to a hotel where a center has been opened to take care of them.
One of the engines of the Viking Sky ferry, en route from the Arctic city of Tromso to southwestern Norway’s Stavanger, broke down during a storm on Saturday afternoon.
Most passengers of the ferry are Britons and Americans, and the crew consists of nationals of different countries. The Russian Embassy in Norway reported on its Facebook page that four Russian citizens were members of the cruise ship’s multinational crew.
Three of the evacuated passengers had been seriously wounded.
