NATO seeking to escalate conflict in Ukraine to hinder Trump — Russian envoy to Belgium

"There is a clear effort by NATO to push the conflict to even higher levels of confrontation, making it as difficult as possible for the next US administration to take any steps toward normalizing the situation and resolving the conflict," Alexander Tokovinin said

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. NATO countries, at the behest of the current US administration, are attempting to push the conflict in Ukraine "to higher levels of confrontation" in order to complicate any potential efforts by US President-elect Donald Trump to resolve the conflict, Russian Ambassador to Belgium Alexander Tokovinin said.

"An obvious escalation of the conflict [in Ukraine] has been taking place recently, spurred by Washington. There is a clear effort [by NATO] to push the conflict to even higher levels of confrontation, making it as difficult as possible for the next US administration to take any steps toward normalizing the situation and resolving the conflict," he said on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

According to him, Washington is drawing European NATO members, primarily France and the UK, into its efforts, aiming to "cement" a confrontational course for the foreseeable future.

Trump has repeatedly stated that, if elected president, he would quickly resolve the conflict in Ukraine before his inauguration, claiming to have a concrete plan for achieving this.
