DUSHANBE, October 1. /TASS/. Russia remains Tajikistan’s leading economic partner, accounting for more than 20% of the republic’s foreign trade turnover, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda said.
"Russia confidently maintains its status as Tajikistan’s leading economic partner, accounting for over 22% of our country’s total foreign trade turnover," he said at an expanded meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the two countries. "In 2025, mutual trade reached a record high of $2.5 bln, an increase of nearly a quarter," the premier added. Rasulzoda particularly highlighted the "positive trend" in supplies of Tajik products to the Russian market, noting that exports from Tajikistan to Russia grew 2.5-fold last year.
"The positive trend has continued this year as well: in the first eight months, trade volumes exceeded $1.7 bln, while Tajik exports grew by another 45%," he said. "For Tajikistan, the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation invariably remains a priority," the prime minister concluded.
The 22nd meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia took place in Dushanbe. The commission is co-chaired by Rasulzoda (for Tajikistan) and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin (for Russia). Respective documents were signed following the meeting.
