Xpeng AeroHT to begin shipments of its LAC modular flying vehicle in summer of 2026

Chief marketing manager Qiu Mingquan said the company is considering selling the product in Russia

HAIKOU /China/, April 14. /TASS Correspondent Andrei Popov/. The Chinese company Xpeng AeroHT, which has developed a modular flying vehicle called the Land Aircraft Carrier (LAC), plans to enter the market with mass deliveries in the summer of 2026, the firm's chief marketing manager Qiu Mingquan told TASS at the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo in Haikou, Hainan Province.

"According to the current plan, we will receive the airworthiness certificate in the fourth quarter of this year and start large-scale production and deliveries around the summer of next year, which is more than a year away," Qiu Mingquan said.

When asked whether it will be possible to see the LAC in Russia, the company representative answered in the affirmative. "Yes, we are considering selling this product to all countries that allow the use of such innovations, so that as many people as possible can enjoy the new experience and convenience that technology brings," Qiu Mingquan said.

At the exhibition, the company showcased its new product, a six-wheele electric van about 5.5 meters long, 2 meters wide and 2 meters high. "Six wheels provide good payload capacity and off-road capability, which allows us to take our flying module anywhere you want to go," Qiu Mingquan explained. When fully charged, the LAC can travel 1,000 kilometers.

The retractable flight module is located at the rear of the body. It detaches from the LAC using an app on a smartphone. "It is very easy to control and operate, learning how to operate it professionally can be done in one or two hours," said Qiu Mingquan.

The vertical takeoff and landing flight module is equipped with six propellers, three on each side. It supports both manual and automatic control modes. The main fuselage structure and wings are made of strong and lightweight carbon fiber. The panoramic cockpit gives the pilot a wide view during flight. The vehicle acts as a charging station for the flight module. It charges it for 20 minutes of flight time at a time.
