MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. Exports of Russian creative industry products surged by 9% annually in ten months of this year to $156 mln, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Vladimir Ilyichev said during a round table on audiovisual product exports.
"As of the end of ten months of 2024, exports of products and services in the entertainment and recreation sphere (creative industries), which includes audiovisual products, totaled $156 mln and increased by 9% against the same period in 2023. However, this is still 40% smaller than in 2022," the deputy minister said.
Russia is not just selling its movies, cartoons and computer games to overseas customers, but building relationships and the Russian brand, Ilyichev stressed. "It is about creating a cultural bridge between our country and others, strengthening international ties and promoting the image of Russia on the global stage."
"However, we understand very well that we face challenging tasks that must be addressed," Ilyuichev noted, pointing to competition in this sphere, cultural differences and technical standards.
"Russian cinema and animation have a rich history and tradition. We have gifted directors, actors, animators and scriptwriters. We are creating products that are on par with world class products," he added.
