Cable between Lithuania and Sweden to be restored in two weeks-operator

VILNIUS, November 19. /TASS/. The telecommunication cable between Lithuania and Sweden, with its damage becoming known on Monday, can be restored within two weeks, Arelion, the cable operator, told TASS.

"The fiber-optic cable will be repaired during one or two week if weather conditions allow," a company spokesperson said.

"We have not yet inspected the cable, so we know nothing about causes of damage, " he noted. Arelion is not participating in the investigation opened on the damage fact.

Cinia, the operator of the cable between Germany and France that was also damaged the day before, told TASS that they "do not know the cause of failure at this stage."

Two cables were damaged in the Baltic Sea on November 17-18. One of them connects Germany and Finland and the other one links Sweden and Lithuania.
