Temporary shutdown of Orsk Refinery not affecting fuel supplies to market — ministry

The greater portion of units at the Orsk Refinery was stopped for the scheduled turnaround before the flood, the Energy Ministry added

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. The temporary shutdown of the Orsk Refinery due to the abnormal flood in the Orenburg Region will not affect provision of fuel for the Russian market, the Energy Ministry told reporters.

"The unscheduled stoppage of the Orsk Refinery will not affect provision of the domestic market with engine fuel because the Russian Federation has sufficient reserves to fully meet the demand in the region exposed to inundation. The maximal shortfall in the volume will stand at about 0.1% from engine fuel production planned in the country in April," the ministry noted.

The greater portion of units at the Orsk Refinery was stopped for the scheduled turnaround before the flood, the ministry added. The decision was made to avoid environmental risks, support safety of employees and production process, the ministry said.
