MOSCOW, February 29. /TASS/. A new year-round resort with zero pollution levels will be developed on Lake Baikal by 2030, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his annual State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly, or Russian parliament.
"Modern, safe infrastructure will appear near bodies of water, including on Lake Baikal. A year-round resort will open here by 2030. At the same time, I consider it important to strictly adhere to the principle of 'zero pollution,' that is, the complete absence of waste and untreated wastewater in the lake," the head of state said.
The president explained that the construction of the Lake Baikal resort is part of a major project called 'Five Seas.' According to him, an eco-tourism infrastructure will be created by 2030 in all national parks of the Russian Federation, including eco-trails and hiking trails, as well as weekend routes for schoolchildren, recreational areas, museums and visitor centers.
