Financial infrastructure should not depend on individual countries — Russian minister

"The present system relying on the existing Western financial infrastructure and the use of reserve currencies has a number of fundamental downsides and is increasingly more used as a tool of political and economic pressure," Anton Siluanov stressed

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. The financial infrastructure should be accessible for everyone and should not depend on the will of individual countries, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said after the first meeting of the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors.

"The financial infrastructure should be accessible for everyone and should not depend on the will of individual countries. Otherwise we face artificially created barriers in trade, investments and technologies even in operations between third countries. This leads to deceleration of global economic growth," the minister said.

"The present system relying on the existing Western financial infrastructure and the use of reserve currencies has a number of fundamental downsides and is increasingly more used as a tool of political and economic pressure," Siluanov stressed.
