Mauritania interested in supplies of hydrocarbons, food from Russia — Lavrov

Key efforts at this stage will target "diversification of trade and economic cooperation and the search for its new forms"

NOUAKCHOTT, February 8. /TASS/. Mauritania is interested in supplies of hydrocarbon fuel, food and fertilizers from Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday at the press conference after talks with Mauritania’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug.

"Our friends are interested in supplies of hydrocarbon fuel, food and fertilizers from Russia. We talked in detail about that today. We are ready to meet requests of Mauritania and other African states for such commodities," Lavrov said.

The fisheries sector is the flagship in partnership of Russia and Mauritania, the Russian top diplomat said. "Russian seiners are annually fishing in the exclusive economic zone of Mauritania. We appreciate comfortable conditions created for them. We agreed to take further measure to make this work as efficient as possible and comfortable," Lavrov noted.

Key efforts at this stage will target "diversification of trade and economic cooperation and the search for its new forms," the Russian Minister added.
