Russian fighter jets scrambled 18 times on interception missions in past week

MOSCOW, August 30. /TASS/. Russian fighter jets have been scrambled 18 times in the past weeks on interception missions, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday quoted in the Krasnaya Zvezda (Red Star) newspaper.

According to the defense ministry, 27 foreign aircraft were conducting reconnaissance along Russian borders. The ministry said that violations of Russian airspace were prevented.

The defense ministry said that Russian jets performed 325 sorties at 97 aerodromes in the past week.
