DONETSK, September 9 . /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces shelled with mortars on Thursday evening the western outskirts of Donetsk and villages in Novoazovsky district in the south of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a source in the DPR defense and law enforcement agencies told the Donetsk News Agency on Friday.
"From 19.00 and 01.00 the Ukrainian side shelled with mortars the villages of Trudovskiye and Alexandrovka in the west as well as Sakhanka and Kominternovo firing 81 82mm and 120mm mortar bombs," the source said.
DPR representatives earlier said the Ukrainian army shelled the area close to an observation post of the Joint Center for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC) in Bezymennoye village.
Members of the Contact Group on the settlement in eastern Ukraine agreed at an August 26 meeting in Minsk on a ceasefire on the line of contact in Donbass as of September 1, the ninth one since the autumn 2014 agreement. OSCE envoy Martin Sajdik said at the group’s meeting in the Belarusian capital on September 7 that the ceasefire is generally observed, adding that the situation in the Donbass region has improved. However, the parties to the conflict continue to accuse each other of violating the truce.
