Rubio did not say whether he would run in 2028 US presidential election

The US Secretary of State said that he has two jobs now, which takes up all his time and energy

NEW DELHI, October 22. /TASS/. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio declined to comment on the possibility of his participation in the next presidential election.

"I’m just not talking about it any more," Rubio replied in an interview with India Today when asked whether he would run. "I have two jobs right now and they take up all my time and energy."

Rubio is also President Donald Trump’s national security adviser.

The United States will hold its next presidential election in 2028. Trump is not legally allowed to run as the current term is his second. The 22nd amendment to the constitution limits a president’s time in office to two terms. American media have repeatedly named Rubio and Vice President JD Vance as the most likely Republican candidates for the highest office.

Trump previously said that he considers Vance and Rubio to be ideal candidates to lead the country after his presidency, adding that the duo would be unbeatable in the 2028 elections. At the same time, the US president did not specify what position he would like to see each of them in. Vance did not rule out that he would run for president in 2028.
