US tightens blockade against Cuba, confirming its genocidal nature — ambassador to Russia

Enrique Horta Gonzalez underscored that Cuba would respond to these challenges with the dignity and resilience exemplified by its courageous citizens

MOSCOW, August 13. /TASS/. The United States has intensified its blockade against Cuba in recent months, further affirming the genocidal nature of this ongoing isolation, stated Cuban Ambassador to Russia, Enrique Horta Gonzalez.

"Today, we confront serious and increasingly palpable threats. We remain acutely aware of the coercive instruments that aim to undermine our peace," Gonzalez remarked during a special event in Moscow commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fidel Castro, leader of the Cuban Revolution. "The long-standing economic, trade, and financial embargo imposed by the United States - lasting nearly seven decades - has only intensified in recent months, underscoring its genocidal character. The brutal energy embargo has caused profound humanitarian suffering among our people."

He underscored that Cuba will respond to these challenges with the dignity and resilience exemplified by its courageous citizens.

"We learned from Fidel that freedom, justice, and dignity are principles that cannot be bargaining chips," Gonzalez affirmed. "Fidel’s humanism, revolutionary ethic, integrity, and unwavering sense of justice and anti-imperialism form the bedrock of our resolve."
