TOKYO, April 27. /TASS/. A magnitude 6 earthquake has hit the Hokkaido Prefecture in northern Japan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported.

According to its data, the epicenter was at a depth of 79 kilometers, 30 kilometers southwest of the city of Obihiro with a population of about 173,000.

There have been no reports of casualties or damage. No tsunami warning was issued.
