TEL AVIV, April 3. /TASS/. During a month-long operation against the Shiite Muslim organization Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Israeli army has struck more than 3,500 targets. About 1,000 members of Hezbollah armed groups were eliminated, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.
According to the IDF press service, this was achieved through strikes from land, air, and sea, along with ground raids in southern Lebanon. The attacks targeted military infrastructure, weapons depots, launch pads, command centers, banks, and bridges. The Israeli side announced the deaths of 10 soldiers in the past month, according to the obituary list on the IDF website. This brings the official Israeli casualty rate in the offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon to 1:100.
Overnight to March 2, northern Israel came under fire from Lebanon. Hezbollah claimed responsibility, stating the rockets fired at Israeli territory were in retaliation for the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Following this, the Israeli Air Force began launching massive strikes on Lebanese territory. Later, Israeli Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir announced the start of an offensive against Hezbollah, which he said could last "many days."
