WASHINGTON, April 1. /TASS/. Israeli authorities are not considering the possibility of sending Israeli ground forces into Iranian territory if the United States decides to commence a ground operation, the Al-Monitor portal reported, citing sources in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
That said, the portal’s sources indicated that in the event of a ground operation, Israel is prepared to provide all kinds of support to the United States in terms of intelligence data needed for airstrikes. "We will be assisting them [the United States - TASS] to the best of our ability with the most accurate intelligence," the portal’s source added.
On March 29, US President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility that US forces would attempt to seize Iran’s Kharg Island. On March 26, the American news outlet Axios, citing US officials and its sources, reported that the Pentagon was preparing four possible escalation scenarios with Iran, which could include seizing the Kharg, Larak, or Abu Musa islands.
