Iran condemns US-Israeli strikes on nuclear facilities as war crime

Attacks on nuclear sites and heavy water production facilities, which are covered by the IAEA Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, run counter to international principles, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said

TEHRAN, April 1. /TASS/. Attacks on any facilities that are part of Iran’s nuclear program, including heavy water production sites, are a war crime, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said.

"Attacks on nuclear sites and heavy water production facilities, which are covered by the [IAEA] Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, run counter to international principles and are undoubtedly a war crime," he stressed in an interview with Iran’s state broadcaster.

The AEOI reported on March 28 that Israel and the US had carried out another strike on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant area, the third one since February 28. According to preliminary reports, the facility was not damaged. The day before, the Iranian authorities reported strikes on a heavy water production plant in the city of Khondab in the country’s west.
