Ukrainian lawmaker admits Russian strike on military training site

Alexey Goncharenko added that Ukraine’s top brass no longer spares the lives of servicemen, by holding military training next to the frontline and issuing late orders to retreat

MOSCOW, May 21. /TASS/. Ukrainian lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko (designated as a terrorist and extremist in Russia) admitted that a Russian strike on a military training facility in the Sumy Region has reached its target.

"The training ground is less than 50 km away from the Russian border. <…> The enemy was watching it. For a while, a drone was hovering over the facility, and it was used to aim the strike. It is a crime on the part of those who decided to conduct military training almost at the frontline," he wrote on Telegram.

The lawmaker added that Ukraine’s top brass no longer spares the lives of servicemen, by holding military training next to the frontline and issuing late orders to retreat.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that up to 70  Ukrainian servicemen were killed in a strike on a Ukrainian special forces’ training facility near the town of Shostka in the Sumy Region. The Russian strike involved the Iskander tactical missile system.
