Russia-China set to hold discussions on bilateral relations — Chinese Foreign Ministry

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun pointed out that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi would meet senior Russian officials and hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

BEIJING, March 28. /TASS/. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to discuss with senior Russian leaders the advancement of bilateral relations and global issues of mutual interest during his visit to Russia this month, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Friday.

"China is ready to utilize this visit as an opportunity to collaborate with Russia in order to promote the implementation of the key consensus reached by the two countries’ leaders, to strengthen discussions on the further development of bilateral relations, as well as global and regional issues of mutual concern," the Chinese diplomat said speaking at a daily news briefing.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced in a statement earlier in the day that "At the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will pay an official visit to Russia from March 31 to April 2."

Guo pointed out that Wang would meet senior Russian officials and hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

According to the Chinese diplomat, "in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two leaders, China and Russia have maintained the unwavering spirit of good-neighborly relations and friendship, comprehensive strategic cooperation, and mutually beneficial interaction, while continuously deepening strategic ties and making a major contribution to promoting further bilateral exchanges and protecting the fundamental principles underpinning international relations.".
