Ukrainian, US ministries holding consultations on resources deal — senior official

Prior to that, Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister and economy minister, Yulia Sviridenko, confirmed that work on the document is ongoing

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. Ukrainian and US ministries are holding discussions on the latest draft of a minerals deal, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office Mikhail Podolyak told Reuters.

"Consultations are still happening at the level of the various ministries," he said, commenting on the revised draft published in the press.

Prior to that, Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister and economy minister, Yulia Sviridenko, confirmed that work on the document is ongoing.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky said that the United States had proposed a new draft of a resources deal to Ukraine that outlines establishing an investment fund to help Ukraine’s recovery. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Wednesday that Washington and Kiev may sign an agreement on economic cooperation, including on mineral resources, as early as next week.

The latest proposal demands all of Ukraine’s revenues from natural resources as repayment for aid worth some $120 billion that Washington has provided to Kiev. The United States will control the investment fund.
