MINSK, March 28. /TASS/. Law enforcement agencies in Belarus have been documenting attempts by special services abroad to recruit Belarusians for terrorist attacks on Russian soil, said Andrey Ananenko, the head of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption at the Interior Ministry.
"Since February 2022, we have witnessed attempts by foreign special services to recruit our citizens for carrying out terrorist attacks in the Russian Federation," the senior Belarusian security official said in an interview with sb. by.
All of who Ananenko called "home-grown terrorists" have been identified. "Belarusians plotting attacks have so far been caught even before leaving for Russia," he added.
According to Ananenko, people on a mission from the special services in Ukraine or EU countries have been arriving in Russia and Belarus posing as law-abiding Ukrainians since the onset of Russia’s special military operation. "They have aimed to disrupt the social and political situation at certain stages or carry out reconnaissance on military agencies and government organizations," he explained.
