NEW YORK, March 18. /TASS/. The sentiment inside the GOP is that Vice President JD Vance will be the Republican candidate for president in the 2028 election, Senator from Indiana Jim Banks (R) told Axios.
"I think it's inevitable at this point that Vance will be the [Republican Party’s] nominee in 2028," he said. "He's the future of the America First movement and he's already proven himself."
A different unnamed source told the news portal that Vance has a good relationship with the US president’s son, Donald Trump Jr. He is allegedly "over the moon with JD's performance so far, and feels completely vindicated for spending his political capital last summer pushing his dad to pick Vance as vice president," according to the news outlet.
Many republicans and members of the MAGA movement praised the vice president’s speech during the Munich Security Conference in February and the way he handled himself during and after a heated meeting with Vladimir Zelensky in the White House. Trump supporter and political activist Jack Posobiec has often referred to Vance as "48" on his X page, the implication being that he will become the 48th US president. Vance is popular among Republicans, many seeing him as the intellectual arm of MAGA, a stark contrast to Trump’s "blunt-force" style.
Vance is a former senator from Ohio, taking office in January 2023. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on August 2, 1984. He served in the United States Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University and the Yale Law School. Before entering politics, he worked as a venture capitalist. In 2016, he published his memoirs, which became a bestseller. He is married to Usha Vance, a lawyer, and has three children. In 2022, he defeated Democratic nominee Tim Ryan for a US Senate seat.
