BELGRADE, March 10. /TASS/. Different positions on Ukraine will not lead to a division between the European Union and the US President Donald Trump administration, with the likelihood of a ceasefire under the new US leader greater than before, Austria’s ex-Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said.
"Both sides are very interested in economic cooperation, and Trump knows it perfectly well. Different views on the war in Ukraine in recent weeks have once again become the reason for the escalation of the situation. However, I, contrary to others, do not see this as a rift between two global powers. With Donald Trump’s coming to power, an early ceasefire seems more likely than under [former US President Joe] Biden," he said in an interview with Serbia’s Politika newspaper.
Moreover, the former Austrian chancellor believes that amid the recent geopolitical events, the EU should play a more active role in global affairs. "In addition to economic power, military power is needed for this," he emphasized.
