Abkhazia’s President-elect Gunba says Putin's support helped build bilateral relations

"Russia has consistently backed us, providing military-political as well as social and economic support," Badra Gunba remarked

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. Thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin's support for the people of Abkhazia, the country is now able to strengthen its relations with Russia, Abkhaz President-elect Badra Gunba stated during a meeting with the Russian leader.

"First and foremost, I want to emphasize that it is your support for the people of Abkhazia and for my country as a whole that has enabled us to develop and build our economic relations primarily with Russia. Russia has consistently backed us, providing military-political as well as social and economic support," Gunba remarked.

He noted that during his election campaign, he prioritized enhancing Abkhazia's cooperation with its main strategic ally, Russia.

"We share historical, fraternal, and economic ties, which we intend to further develop. Our common history is significant, and this year we jointly celebrate our shared victory in the Great Patriotic War," Gunba added.
