TEL AVIV, February 21. /TASS/. Israel has sent additions units to the West Bank to launch a series of operations to suppress "terror centers," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said while visiting Israeli soldiers operating in the Tulkarem refugee camp.
"I am with soldiers at the Tulkarem refugee camp. We are doing very important work against Hamas and other terrorist groups’ plans to incur damage on Israel. Yesterday’s attempt to stage a series mass terror attacks (on February 20 - TASS) is a very serious matter. In response to it, we sent reinforcements to Judea and Samaria (the Israeli name for the West Bank - TASS) and launched additional operations against terror centers," he said in a video address.
"In the past year, we have greatly increased our activity [in the West Bank]," he said. "We are entering the terrorist strongholds, clearing entire streets used by terrorists, their homes. We are eliminating terrorists and commanders."
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said earlier on Friday that three additional battalions had been sent to the West Bank. This decision followed the February 20 blasts at the bus parking lot in a Tel Aviv neighborhood. According to the police, the explosive devices were planted by Palestinian radicals from the West Bank.
