ROME, February 11. /TASS/. There can be no agreement on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine without Europe's contribution, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas told the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
"A war is raging in Europe. It concerns Ukraine, but it also concerns Europe, and in order to achieve a real peace, Europe must be part of it. I see no peace settlement without the EU participation," she said.
"For us, helping Ukraine is not charity. It is an investment in our own security," the foreign policy chief pointed out.
US President Donald Trump said earlier that he would like to reach agreements on the Ukrainian settlement soon. Western media are increasingly suggesting that a Ukrainian settlement will be discussed bilaterally between the leaders of Russia and the United States, excluding Europe and formally involving Kiev.
On February 7, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that so far there are no substantive proposals from the US on the Ukrainian settlement. He added that Russia observes on a daily basis all kinds of statements that are later refuted.
